Pastoral Care

At Rugeley John Taylor School, we are committed to providing outstanding pastoral care that supports every student to thrive both personally and academically.

Our approach to wellbeing begins the moment students arrive each day and is embedded in the culture of our school. Every student is part of a form group, spending the first 30 minutes of each day with their form tutor – someone who knows them well and is their first point of contact for support, guidance, and encouragement.

We understand that some students may need more targeted support at different points in their school journey. Where needed, we offer personalised intervention packages tailored to individual circumstances. We also work closely with a range of external agencies to ensure the right help is in place when required.

At Rugeley John Taylor School, we recognise the significant positive impact parents and carers have on their child’s learning and wellbeing. With this in mind, we are committed to building strong, trusting relationships with families. Communication between school and home is timely, purposeful, and respectful. We offer a range of methods for staying in touch, tailored to meet different needs and ensure the best outcomes for our students.

To support this, we use My Child At School (MCAS) – a powerful platform that provides parents with a wealth of information about their child’s school life. Through MCAS, you can view your child’s timetable, attendance, behaviour points, detentions/reflections, homework, school reports, and book appointments for Parents’ Evenings.

If you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing or would like to discuss support options, please contact their form tutor in the first instance.
